Osaka Tenmangū is one of Japan’s oldest Tenmangū shrines, founded in AD 949 and rebuilt after repeated fires—the current entrance hall and gate date from 1845. Visit in late July (July 24–25) for the lively Tenjin Festival when the shrine fills with traditional ceremonies and celebrations, or come any time to soak up its long history and calm atmosphere.
